Dr. Mark Levy

Dr Mark Levy – FRCGP, General Practitioner and Clinical Research Fellow, at Edinburgh University with a special interest in respiratory disease and allergy.

Dr Levy is interested in issues connected to this area from his work with respiratory diseases and the Met Office. He would like to explore his research on air pollution in South Africa and Kenya with the team.
Dr Levy would like to develop his ideas on respiratory diseases, in particular asthma and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). (There are 100,000 COPD-related hospital admissions in England and the NHS spends £600 million annually looking after people with COPD). Dr Levy currently works with the MET office to give forecasts to COPD patients when weather patterns change.
